Famsoft's Oracle DBA career track is a career builder for aspiring database administrators. This course is designed to prepare students to handle the job of an Oracle DBA effectively. The objective of this track is to provide students a strong conceptual knowledge and lots of hands-on exercises to help understand the Oracle Database Architecture and Administration better and to appreciate the best practices used in the industry. The program is very detailed and totally hands-on. The following are just few of the exercises that students actually perform in class as part of their lab exercises:

  • Hands-on training on UNIX servers
  • Recovering crashed databases due to loss of control file, tablespace, etc.
  • Performing HOT and COLD backups
  • Setting up and configuring RMAN
  • Performing backups and recovery using RMAN
  • Setting up Standby databases

This is a rigorous program and you must be willing to devote a substantial amount of time and effort to complete it. Your gains will be in direct proportion to the amount of effort you put into it.

Since a majority of Oracle databases run on UNIX based operating systems, Famsoft's Oracle DBA track has been designed on the UNIX platform. As such, students are expected to have a reasonably good understanding of UNIX operating system and end user skills. The following basic knowledge is assumed of each student:

  • Reasonably good working knowledge of UNIX commands and file system.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications.
